Santosh scolds Sandhya for breaking the coconut. She tells her that only men are allowed to break the coconut as per the custom. She warns her not to follow her parents’ nontraditional views in her house. The men serve food to the Brahmans as women are restricted from coming in contact with them. The Brahmans are offended as a saree falls in their midst during the feast. Sandhya convinces them to resume the feast after reminding them that they were brought into this world by a woman.
